Spring Comes to Portland

Greetings from the land of rain and mild temperatures. While the polar vortex (or whever they are calling it these days) has frozen much of the country (our hometown of Hill City, SD hit -16 degrees Fahrenheit last week) it has been warm enough here that spring is definitely upon us.

I don't want to rub it in (ok at least not too much...), but I would like to share some photos of what is starting to bloom here in the Pacific Northwest. Hopefully it can tie the rest of you over until spring comes your way. (And if you just can't wait... we love visitors!)

Red Flowering Currant (Ribes sanguineum)

Iris (Iris spp.)

Daffodil (Narcissus spp.)

Crocus (Crocus spp.)

Skunk Cabbage (Lysochiton americanus)

Stay warm out there. If you still have a few feet of snow on the ground, remember that spring will be there before you know it!
