To Have Succeeded

Today is Grandpa's funeral. While we will all miss him very much, the entire family is comforted by reflecting on the full life he led and the legacy he left behind. In death as in life, he continues to bring our family every closer.

My grandpa was one of many role models in my life that shaped my values and led to me to be the person that I am today. So this made me think so much of you grandpa! You were never flashy or loud. But your actions spoke louder than your words and yours was a life well lived.

Love you so much. Today we mourn, but we also celebrate the wonderful family you left behind. I am so blessed to be a part of it!

“To laugh often and love much; to win the respect of intelligent persons and the affection of children; to earn the approbation of honest citizens and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to give of one’s self; to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; to have played and laughed with enthusiasm and sung with exultation; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived—this is to have succeeded.”
